Starlathe Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Summary
Buy the game, play it as much as you like, and be decent in our community. Starlathe is in Early Access, so it will change and may have bugs. These terms explain your licence to play, what we ask of you, and what we are and are not responsible for.
Who we are
Starlathe is developed and published by Astraeon Interactive Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong (Business Registration No. 80632675), at Suite C, Level 7, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that company, and "you" means the person playing the game.
Agreeing to these terms
By installing or playing Starlathe, or by joining the official Starlathe Discord server, you agree to these terms. Your purchase on Steam is also covered by the Steam Subscriber Agreement; if the two ever conflict about the purchase itself, Steam's agreement applies.
Your licence to play
When you buy Starlathe, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play the game for your own non-commercial entertainment, for as long as you own it on Steam. The game itself — its code, art, music, sound, text, names and world — remains the property of Astraeon Interactive Limited and is protected by copyright and other laws. You do not buy the game's content, only the right to play it.
What you may not do
- copy, resell, rent, or redistribute the game or its files;
- extract and reuse the game's art, music, sound or other assets outside the game, except as described under "Videos, streams and screenshots" below;
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the game in order to cheat for others, to bypass Steam's ownership checks, or to build a competing product;
- use the game for any unlawful purpose.
Changing your own single-player experience for yourself on your own PC is your business — but we cannot support a modified game, and saves from a modified game may stop working.
Videos, streams and screenshots
You are welcome to stream Starlathe, record and publish videos of it, and share screenshots, including on monetised channels. Please do not present the game as your own, and do not use its footage to imply that we endorse you or your channel.
Early Access
Starlathe is an Early Access game. That means it is playable but not finished: features, balance and content will change, things may break, and an update can occasionally make an older save incompatible. We work hard to avoid that, but we cannot promise it will never happen, and we do not promise any specific feature or release date.
Crash reports
If the game crashes, it automatically sends us a technical crash report so we can fix the problem. What a report contains and how we handle it is described in the Starlathe Privacy Policy.
Community and Discord
The official Starlathe Discord server is where players share feedback, report bugs and talk about the game. When you take part in it, please:
- be respectful — no harassment, hate speech, threats or personal attacks;
- post nothing illegal, sexually explicit, or sharing anyone's private information;
- do not spam, advertise, or share pirated copies, cheats or malicious files;
- follow the server's channel rules and Discord's own terms of service.
Our moderators may remove posts and mute, kick or ban anyone who breaks these rules. Feedback and ideas you share with us are given freely: we may use them to improve the game without owing you payment or credit.
Refunds
Purchases are made through Steam, and refunds are handled by Steam under its refund policy.
Disclaimer
Starlathe is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promise that the game will be free of bugs, run on every PC, or be available without interruption. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Astraeon Interactive Limited is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, such as lost saves or lost time, arising from your use of the game, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Starlathe. This does not limit liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your licence
You can stop using Starlathe at any time by uninstalling it. If you seriously break these terms, your licence to play ends and you must stop using the game; any ban from Steam itself is a matter between you and Valve.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. If you live elsewhere, you also keep any mandatory consumer protections your own country's law gives you.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be announced on the game's Steam page. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
